Ribbon seals are the most beautiful of all seals. According to the legend the seals were painting each other when suddenly a group of hunters in their kayaks appeared on the horizon. Thus unable to complete their task the painter hurriedly splattered the paint upon the frightened seals as they escaped into the sea. This is why the handsome ribbon seals are so few while the others are covered with spots. As for the babies, they are born a snowy white, for they received no paint upon their bodies.
Rushing Waters is a limited edition of 25. It was released in1997. This bronze cast sculpture wears a black patina with polished bronze ribbons. Stone base.
